Development of RF components/devices using novel electromagnetic material
properties
Prof. Rojas’ research under this program deals primarily with the development
of RF components and devices such as isolators, circulators, gyrators, etc. The
first device to be analyzed will be an isolator that does not require magnetic
materials. His other research interests include active integrated arrays,
reconfigurable antennas, conformal arrays, RFICs and optical phased arrays.
Prof. Rojas currently holds the position of Professor in the Dept. of
Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State University. His professional
experience includes nine months at NASA Glenn Research Center as a visiting
researcher and three months at JPL as a summer faculty.
Prof. Rojas published over 100 journal and conference papers. He has won the
1988 R.W.P. King Prize Paper Award, the 1990 Browder J. Thompson Memorial Prize
Award, both given by IEEE, the 1989 and 1993 Lumley Research Awards, given by
the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. Prof. Rojas has served
as Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer of the Columbus, OH Chapter
of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation and Microwave Theory and Techniques
Societies. He is a Fellow of IEEE and an elected member of U.S. Commission B of
URSI.
